Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

The Ottawa International Airport Authority (Authority) is accepting applications for a full-time Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

Reporting to the Director, Finance, this person will play a pivotal role in driving the Authority’s financial planning, budgeting and analysis functions. This individual will lead strategic planning, forecasting, and reporting activities while providing critical insights to guide the Authority’s management team. As a key leader within the finance team, the role requires strategic thinking, advanced technical skills, and a collaborative mindset to influence outcomes across the Authority.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Lead annual budget process across all business units within the Authority, including the analysis and alignment of strategic priorities to the budget, reviewing confidential payroll, benefit and headcount projections, sensitive contractual commitments and financial covenant compliance
  • Lead the in-year forecast process, identifying trends, opportunities and risks
  • Develop strong partnerships with budget holders to understand key insights and drivers for each business unit
  • Partner with the Business Development team to develop and maintain passenger forecast models, utilizing confidential data from air carriers to provide insightful projections of short- and long-term passenger volumes
  • Develop dashboard reporting for forecasting activities
  • Provide financial oversight, reporting and analysis to support the Terminal Expansion Program (TEP)
  • Develop dashboard information to support the TEP, the monthly financial management report and other required reports
  • Leverage data to improve insights for decisions, which includes using the ERP system, Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics technology, and Microsoft Excel
  • Provide oversight of the Capital Program financial processes 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and ensure data accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Prepare the Authority’s confidential pension plan financial statements, including note disclosures, external audit coordination and external reporting to the regulator, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI)
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve their goals and perform to the best of their abilities
  • Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities to support career growth within the organization
  • Assume all other duties and responsibilities inherent to the position

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION

  • College Diploma or University Degree in business, finance, accounting, business administration, economics or related field 

CERTIFICATION

  • CPA designation

EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) or more years of related experience
  • Experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, accounting and long-term planning cycles 
  • Strong financial modelling skills and the ability to create executive-level presentations.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and principles (IFRS) 
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards
  • Strategic planning and financial analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing competing deadlines
  • Experience supervising staff, providing mentorship, assigning work, managing and assessing performance

SKILLS 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office software and an advanced working knowledge of Excel and ERP systems

LANGUAGE

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

ASSETS :

  • Experience in financial system migration
  • Bilingualism (English and French)

ABOUT THE POSITION :

Job requirements

  • Have a valid driver’s license (Class G or equivalent) 
  • Provide a driver’s abstract (issued within the last month)
  • Successfully obtain a security clearance check for a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
