Safety and security at YOW

The Airport Authority is committed to excellence in safety and security management.

Our primary objective is to build, operate and maintain a safe, secure and sustainable airport for our employees and customers.

We work collaboratively with all our campus partners in the interest of everyone’s safety to ensure that everyone goes home at the end of their workday.

We have many cross-organization programs in place such as:

  • Robust safety management tool and program;
  • Processes and policies, and proactive measures to mitigate risk; and
  • Training opportunities.

In addition to emergency planning and technology throughout the campus, people power is key to maintaining secure operations.

The Authority has many partners that help keep YOW secure, including:

  • Law enforcement agencies;
  • On-site fire hall;
  • Contracted security provider; and
  • ‘See something, Say something’ - a phone number that anyone can call to report suspicious activity. (613-248-2047)

XVR training

Our virtual reality training environment is one of the largest XVR training facilities in North America. Take a peek at this unique space where first responders who interact with the airport practice responding to incidents that could occur.

#NotInMyCity

YOW is proud of its partnership with #NotInMyCity, a national facilitative organization dedicated to ending human trafficking and exploitation in Canada.
