Student, Groundside Operations


The Ottawa International Airport Authority (Authority) is accepting applications for a Student,Groundside Operations position.
Reporting to the Manager, Groundside Operations, the student will maintain the airport grounds and landscaping.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Litter control and emptying garbage cans
- Removing debris from airfield
- Operating motorized landscape equipment
- Operating small street sweeper
- Mowing grass with push mower
- Planting flowers
- Pruning trees
- Water irrigation
- Light painting
- Repairing fences
- Weeding and weed prevention
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION
- Student enrolled in an accredited full-time post-secondary program.
- SKILLS
- Able to work both indoors and outdoors (in any weather condition)
- Hard worker
- Perform physical labour (digging and lifting involved)
- Able to take direction
- Motivated
- Able to work in a team setting and independently
- Safety conscious and familiar with safe work practices
- LANGUAGE
- Excellent communication skills in English
ASSETS
- Experience in grounds keeping or landscaping
- Horticulture as current field of study
- Bilingualism (English and French)
ABOUT THE POSITION
Job requirements
- Have a valid Class G driver’s license (or equivalent)
- Provide a driver’s abstract (issued within the last month)
- Successfully obtain a security clearance check for an airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
