Student, Groundside Operations

The Ottawa International Airport Authority (Authority) is accepting applications for a Student,Groundside Operations position.

Reporting to the Manager, Groundside Operations, the student will maintain the airport grounds and landscaping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Litter control and emptying garbage cans
  • Removing debris from airfield
  • Operating motorized landscape equipment
  • Operating small street sweeper
  • Mowing grass with push mower
  • Planting flowers
  • Pruning trees
  • Water irrigation
  • Light painting
  • Repairing fences
  • Weeding and weed prevention

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • EDUCATION
    • Student enrolled in an accredited full-time post-secondary program.
  • SKILLS
    • Able to work both indoors and outdoors (in any weather condition)
    • Hard worker
    • Perform physical labour (digging and lifting involved)
    • Able to take direction
    • Motivated
    • Able to work in a team setting and independently
    • Safety conscious and familiar with safe work practices
  • LANGUAGE
    • Excellent communication skills in English 

ASSETS

  • Experience in grounds keeping or landscaping
  • Horticulture as current field of study
  • Bilingualism (English and French)

ABOUT THE POSITION 

Job requirements

  • Have a valid Class G driver’s license (or equivalent)
  • Provide a driver’s abstract (issued within the last month)
  • Successfully obtain a security clearance check for an airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
