Physical Security Systems Administrator


The Ottawa International Airport Authority (Authority) is accepting applications for a full-time Physical Security Systems Administrator.
This person is responsible for the coordination and operation of the Authority’s security systems, and security equipment and technologies. This includes both software and hardware applications regarding the access control systems, key control management systems, surveillance systems, emergency applications (including mass notification), and intrusion alarms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Administers all aspects of the daily technical workload related to the Authority security system including the Video Management System (VMS), cameras, access control hardware, door hardware, digital video recorders, and storage devices related to digital video recorders
- Controls sensitive data/applications including Access Control, video management, and analytics systems such as Facial Recognition (FR), License Plate Recognition (LPR), etc.
- Controls sensitive information pertaining to employee personal background check / security clearance data
- Controls confidential data on background checks / security clearances for both internal and external clients
- Assesses and responds to operational issues and ensures that the security systems are operating efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all pertinent legislative codes and standards
- Develops policies and procedures for the safeguarding of access control and video management systems
- Programs and commissions new security projects with support from Project Managers
- Assists with the development and implementation of government regulated security requirements
- Analyzes system security risks, vulnerabilities and implements fixes to mitigate these risks
- Conducts research and makes recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts
- Ensures appropriate preventative maintenance and oversees emergency repairs of security platform servers and electronic access panels and controllers
- Obtains quotations from external security equipment vendors as required, participates, and assists in the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) vendor selection processes
- Oversees external contractors who are servicing and/or installing security systems
- Supports hardware and software purchases, licensing, and inventory
- Provides immediate resolution to service requests in a timely manner
- Conducts physical security system reviews and internal investigations as required
- Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data
- Compiles and produces daily reports and analyzes any relevant logs
- Develops and maintains training plans and procedures as required for security systems
- Ensures Airport Operations Coordination Centre staff is provided with detailed information regarding CCTVs, access control issues, upgrades, hardware updates, etc.
- Creates as-built documentation as required
- Performs other related duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION
- University degree or college diploma in electronics or security installation or in a related discipline
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of three (3) years’ related experience
- Extensive practical experience with security system tools and technologies
SKILLS
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with Windows Server 2012 and up including but not limited to Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
- Excellent understanding and practical experience with the Windows desktop platform
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server

ABOUT THE POSITION :
Salary
$92,355 to $104,391 per year in accordance with the current Collective Agreement (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2028 rates)
Job requirements
- Have a valid Class G driver’s license (or equivalent)
- Provide a driver’s abstract (issued within the last month)
- Successfully obtain a security clearance check for a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
