Director, Information Management and Technology

The Ottawa International Airport Authority (Authority) is accepting applications for a full-time Director, Information Management and Technology. 

You will lead the activities, decisions, and recommendations that influence the overall direction and success of the Authority’s information management (IM), information technology (IT) and cybersecurity protection.

You will evaluate direct impact on the quality, effectiveness, security and resiliency of information processing systems and evaluate feasibility while considering costs, infrastructure and network capacity, priorities, and deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Program leadership and governance

  • Plan and manage the human and financial IM/IT resources to meet the current and anticipated objectives
  • Ensure that IT services are meeting or exceeding service expectations and are delivered efficiently and effectively
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability within the team
  • Manage and supervise IM/lT employees, define and prioritize goals, plan and assign work, provide guidance, promote personal and professional development
  • Participate in the hiring process including recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, training, and developing training plans for IM/lT employees, and consultants on a project basis
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback regularly, complete annual formal performance reviews, and address performance or conduct issues proactively in accordance with organizational standards
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the Authority's senior management team
  • Keep the Vice President, IT and Chief Information Security Officer informed on all things related to IM, IT and cybersecurity, acting as a strategic liaison between the IM/IT team and internal stakeholders, external partners, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment with corporate priorities and operational requirements
  • Protect the Authority from any potential IM/IT security vulnerabilities
  • Manage the Threat and Risk Assessment (TRA) process and implements findings from the TRA report
  • Champion cybersecurity awareness and discipline among staff
  • Work with the Procurement and Contracting team to engage third-party service providers, and for procurement requirements (tenders, requests for proposals (RFP) or statement of qualifications) related to operational projects
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external stakeholders, consultants, vendors, and other Authority entities
  • Plan, direct and control all systems and operational activities of the IM/lT team including, project delivery, day-to-day operations of help desk, desktop, infrastructure, application, and network operations and security
  • Work with the Director, IM and Principle Architect to approve IM/IT hardware and software solutions in conjunction with the Authority's corporate priorities and strategic direction
  • Provide input to annual reports, budgets, and operational plans
  • Work with the Director, IT Project Management Office to schedule projects including establishing objectives and resource requirements, priorities, schedules, and deadlines

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • EDUCATION
    • College diploma or university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Business Technology Management, or related field
  • EXPERIENCE
    • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in IM/IT
    • Minimum 5 years in senior leadership role overseeing multi-disciplinary IT teams
    • Project management in various methodologies
    • Leading cybersecurity programs and risk mitigation strategies
    • Managing enterprise infrastructure, applications, and network operations
    • Leading procurement processes including RFP development and vendor negotiations
    • Managing operational and capital budgets
    • Working with executive leadership and providing advice
  • SKILLS:
    • Methods, techniques and practices involved in computer systems analysis and programming and in designing network architecture, configuring workstations, and servers
    • Network monitoring methods and management tools
    • Emerging solutions, applications and technologies
    • Critical thinking and strong communication skills
    • Meraki Wi-Fi, Data Center management, and VMware
    • Generation firewalls and network topologies, including Fortinet and Cisco Firewalls, and Microsoft Azure Cloud
    • Document management, records management, forms integration, and document classification
    • Dell EMC storage SAN and other hyper-converged technologies
    • SharePoint (Cloud and on premises)
    • Familiar with control standards from IS0 27001 and NIST CSF
  • LANGUAGE
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

ASSETS

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Relevant industry certifications (Microsoft, Cloud, network, Project Management Professional)
  • Experience in a regulated or mission-critical environment (transportation, aviation, public sector, utilities, healthcare)
  • Experience supporting 24/7 operational environments
  • Bilingualism (English and French)

ABOUT THE POSITION 

Job requirements

  • Have a valid driver’s license (Class G or equivalent)
  • Provide a driver’s abstract (issued within the last month)
  • Successfully obtain a security clearance check for an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
