Project Clear Skies was launched in October of 2004 as a means of marking the first anniversary of the opening of the new terminal. Applications for funding for capital projects are accepted from registered charities that operate within the geographic boundaries of the National Capital Region. An evaluation committee, comprised of members of the Board of Directors along with Airport Authority employees, meets to review the submissions each year. Together, they select how the committed annual funds will be divided and distributed. Charities with dedicated fundraising staff are not eligible, nor are requests for funding to cover administration or overhead.
“Project Clear Skies provides the Board of Directors and employees from the Authority with the opportunity to learn about some wonderful organizations and the good work they are doing to fill many needs in our community” said Gilles Lalonde, Chairman of the Airport Authority’s Board of Directors. “We are touched by their stories and are pleased to do what we can to assist their efforts.”
“I would like to extend my thanks to every charity that applied for funding, and applaud their efforts to improve the quality of life for many individuals and families in Ottawa-Gatineau. He continued “I would also like to thank the Board and our employees for their dedication to the program and the care with which they review each and every application.”
