Porter Airlines landing in Kelowna with new Ottawa flights

Porter Airlines is expanding its presence in British Columbia with flights between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Kelowna International Airport (YLW). Porter is the only airline offering non-stop flights between the two destinations.
Service begins today with five weekly roundtrip flights, increasing to six weekly flights in June.
This is the second Kelowna route that Porter serves, complementing existing Toronto Pearson flights. Service to other cities in British Columbia include Vancouver and Victoria. Flights operate on the new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. It has the lowest fuel consumption per seat and per trip in its class, and is the quietest single-aisle jet flying today. The two-by-two configuration means there are no middle seats on any Porter flight.

Travellers will appreciate Kelowna’s mountainous landscapes and the Okanagan Valley’s world class wineries. The year-round destination will benefit from direct access to Canada’s capital, as well as improved connections to Eastern Canada, such as Halifax and St. John’s.
“Expanding our presence in Kelowna strengthens our Western Canada network and reinforces our commitment to connecting travellers across the country,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines. “By enhancing connectivity between the west and the east, we’re opening up more convenient, reliable options for Canadians to travel where they want to go.”
Porter’s onboard experience provides every passenger with complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, a selection of Canadian premium snacks, and free, fast streaming WiFi. The all-inclusive PorterReserve fare includes fresh, healthy meals, and features such as the ability to change flights without a fee, dedicated check-in, extra legroom, and two checked bags. For travellers who want to choose specific features to fit their needs, the PorterClassic fare offers these perks à la carte.
“We are excited to see Porter Airlines' network expand at YLW," says Sam Samaddar, Kelowna International Airport CEO. "This new route not only provides our passengers with more travel options and direct access to Ottawa but also opens up new opportunities for tourism and business for our region."
“Improving air access is an important part of supporting Kelowna’s economy and managing growth responsibly. This new non-stop connection to Ottawa strengthens our ties to Canada’s capital, supports local businesses, and makes it easier for visitors, investors, and families to travel to and from our region,” said Mayor Tom Dyas. “This new East West connection also supports increased tourism, particularly as Kelowna continues to grow as a destination city for major events that bring visitors, economic activity, and national attention to our community.”
Kelowna adds to Ottawa’s growing Western Canada network, with service to Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and Winnipeg.
“This new non-stop service between Ottawa and Kelowna strengthens connectivity between two vibrant regions of Canada,” said Susan Margles, President and CEO. “It opens the door for Ottawa-Gatineau travellers to experience the Okanagan’s renowned wine country and outdoor lifestyle, while giving British Columbians easy access to the rich history and culture of Canada’s Capital Region.”
