Former Board of Directors Chair, Claude Bennett, passes away
The Ottawa International Airport Authority is mourning the loss of former Board of Directors Chair, Claude Bennett, who passed away on Friday, March 20.
Claude joined the Board in 1998 - a pivotal point in the history of the airport as planning for a new airport befitting Canada’s Capital began. He chaired several committees during his tenure, including Executive, and Airport Expansion Program Overview, and was ultimately Chair of the Board from 2002 to 2003, and oversaw the opening of the new passenger terminal building. A community booster and proud political leader, he left an indelible mark on the Airport Authority, the City of Ottawa, and the Province of Ontario.
Thom Bennett, Claude's brother, also served on the Board. His nephew, Shane, currently serves, carrying on a proud family tradition. The family is also mourning the loss of Thom’s wife and Shane’s mother, Susan Bennett. The Airport Authority sends its deepest condolences to Thom, Shane, and the entire Bennett family at this difficult time.
