Disruptions in Airport taxi service

Published on August 11, 2015

The Ottawa International Airport is currently experiencing a disruption in taxi service due to a labour dispute between Coventry Connections, the taxi service broker, and its Airport Taxi drivers. As a result, passengers may experience longer than usual wait times or congestion.

The Airport Authority is working with Coventry to find alternatives to service the needs of the airport’s customers. The Authority has also put in place a contingency plan to ensure that any disruption is minimized, and to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and visitors who are travelling on the roadways in and around the airport.  The Authority is working on alternative transportation services for those passengers who require it. An information kiosk has been opened in Arrivals, on level one, to provide assistance as necessary.

We encourage passengers to arrange pick-up and drop-off by family, friends or colleagues whenever possible until the labour dispute is resolved, and we expect that traffic and congestion on the arrivals curb will increase as a result. As such, the Authority would like to remind drivers that the roadway in front of the terminal is for “active loading” only and encourages anyone who is planning to pick up an arriving passenger to make use of the cell phone lot where they can wait in the comfort of their vehicle for a call or text. Directions to the lot can be found at www.yow.ca/en/parking-transportation/parking

Status updates will be disseminated over Twitter @FlyYOW, over the airport’s mobile app FlyCANADA, on the airport’s website yow.ca and via the media. Passengers seeking taxi and transportation-related information in the terminal can inquire at the information kiosk on level one.
