Annual emergency exercise at YOW - September 10

Published on September 9, 2025

The Ottawa International Airport Authority will be conducting its annual emergency exercise on airport property on Wednesday, September 10, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

This exercise, developed by the Authority’s Emergency Management team, will test the Airport Emergency Plan and supporting structure. It’s an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and cooperation between participants, to ensure the safety and security of passengers, the public and employees during a real incident.

First responders from the Airport Fire Services, Ottawa Police Service, Ottawa Paramedic Service, Ottawa Fire Services, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and campus partners will participate in the event.

Members of the public and passengers may see emergency vehicles and activity related to the exercise but should not be alarmed.

The exercise will not be open to media participation.

Transport Canada requires airports to conduct full-scale exercises each year. The Authority plans, safety and security scenarios in alternating years.
